It does take some technical skills and a lot of work, but the layout dimensions are listed on the site...I can see where someone might have problems with the site and having their books come out with a professional layout.
Mill City Press puts out a very professional looking book, as does Outskirts.
A friend of mine went with Lulu and her problem was she didn't really know how to do layouts, etc. and they offered her no guidance. the book didn't look very professional when it came out.
I just published my book with Xlibris.com. You may want to go into their website and take a look.
They offer a lot, and I know others who have self published with them also.

- LJ, you may want to check out some of the publishing company websites. I think I remember seeing a few posts about hiring additional staff. Good luck!

- I do a lot of promotions for Escape 2 Earth. I am also a writer. I just graduated college in Communications and Technology with a minor in English. I am planning on putting together a series of short stories into one book. I want to learn how a publishing company works, I'd like to work at a company like that, but I have no idea of how to get that done.
